A print on transparent paper and acrylic on wood titled Dreams by contemporary artist Justine Fontaine Maury (b. 1988), created in 2011. On a field of pink coated in resin, the work features the printed image of American actors Cary Grant and Grace Kelly embracing. The photograph was taking for the filming of To Catch a Thief (1955). Acrylic embellishments have been applied to the lips, eyes, hair, and outlines of the figures. Behind them, the titled of the work has been applied with black paint. The sides of the board are painted with a yellow-on-black smiley face pattern. Signed and dated by the artist in black ink to the verso. A pair of d-rings are present to the verso but without picture wire, the item is not ready to hang.

Justin Fontaine Maury uses his education in photography and design to create work that uses found objects, paint, and resin. Maury’s work is bright and shocking using enlarged taboo images from vintage adult film posters and classified ads combined with painted backgrounds and bold words. He layers his works with resin to bind the paint to the wooden surface presenting a structural and aesthetic depth. His work can be found in private collections and galleries in the greater New York City area, including the Borghi Fine Art Gallery.
