Justin Fontaine Maury Mixed Media "Don't Cry for Me Argentina"

Item Details

A print on tissue paper with acrylic embellishments on SurePly wooden panel titled Don’t Cry for Me Argentina by Contemporary artist Justin Fontaine Maury (b. 1988), created in 2013. Within a lavender background, the piece depicts a close-up perspective, between a blonde woman and a dark-haired man just before kissing, making reference to the musical Evita. This work is signed, titled, and dated in black ink to the verso. There is a gallery label and wire affixed to the backing of the canvas. The piece comes ready to hang.

Justin Fontaine Maury uses his education in photography and design to create work that uses found objects, paint, and resin. Maury’s work is bright and shocking using enlarged taboo images from vintage adult film posters and classified ads combined with painted backgrounds and bold words. He layers his works with resin to bind the paint to the wooden surface presenting a structural and aesthetic depth. His work can be found in private collections and galleries in the greater New York City area, including the Borghi Fine Art Gallery.
