Early 19th Century Federal Kentucky Secretary Bookcase in Cherry
Item Details
An early 19th century Federal Kentucky secretary bookcase in cherry. The upper section of the bookcase having a broken pediment with three spiral flame finials over two paneled doors opening to a divided three-shelf interior. The desk section has a slant front opening to rest on slides with well fitted interior comprising nine open pigeon holes over two rows of eight small drawers with brass knobs. The lower portion enjoys four drawers graduating in size with brass pulls and escutcheons. The secretary bookcase rests on bracket feet.
Provenance; The bookcase was brought from the present owner’s family (Grandparent’s) riverside farm located at the west terminus of route 8 in Kentucky.

Condition
The left corner of the slant front has a large chip shaved from the corner, an old issue. Also, some loose veneer at left side of top cabinet, two feet have had repairs and the key is not present.
Dimensions
The secretary bookcase is constructed as two pieces, both the top and bottom sections are 43" high.
