19th Century Spanish Colonial Retablo of San Ramón Nanato

An early 19th Century Spanish Colonial retablo image on board depicting San Ramón Nanato (Saint Raymond Nonnatus, d. 1240). The image shows the saint in a red robe holding a monstrance in his right hand and a wand with three crowns on it in his left. The rustic painting is executed in black, red and yellow on a rough-hewn pine board. 1938.0537

Provenance
Collected in the late 19th and early 20th century around Santa Fe, New Mexico, and donated to a Private Midwestern Institution in 1938.
Sold to enhance and preserve the Institution’s mission-relevant Collections.

Condition

darkened overall with cracking and loss of paint on body
