A hand-knotted Mashhad wool area rug. The rug features an allover floral herati design with delicate frond leaves and large palmettes and lotus flowers, in shades of red, blue. green, orange, tan and golden yellow. Compound floral meander guard borders flank the wide primary border, having an ornate arabesqued herati motif in the field colors on an off-white ground. It has overcast edges, with a narrow woven kilim shirt and cotton warp fringe. Unmarked.
