An original oil on canvas painting titled Pride Of The Orient circa approximately 1902 by Canadian/American artist, James Ross Bryson (1856 – 1918). Bryson was best known for his elegant paintings, mostly of women, that were considered quite risque for that time period. This beautiful painting features a gypsy style woman with thick black hair that runs down her back who is smoking a cigarette. This piece is displayed behind glass in a simple wooden frame with a gold painted finish to the exterior that has a brass plaque to the bottom, which is engraved with the artist’s name, as well as the title of the painting. There is a wire to the verso for hanging.
Condition
- Nicks and scratches to frame. Frosted glass over painting, some paint has transferred onto the glass.
