A power loomed medallion area rug. Likely made in Pakistan, this supple wool rug is rendered in a palette of mocha, cinnamon, taupe, and slate blue, with ivory highlights. It features an elongated star medallion with pendants over an open cinnamon field. Punctuating the field are spandrels that feature both palmettes and a repeating lattice pattern, which is echoed in a pair of guard strips. Multiple borders and guard strips frame the field, while lattice-pattern panels at top and bottom suggest a Pakistani origin. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at either end with kilim skirts and knotted ivory cotton warp fringe. It is unmarked.
