A black and white photograph on translucent ground by artist and photographer Don Werner (1929-2010), created 1993-1994. This photograph features an abstract composition of fine lines complemented by bold, geometric areas of dense black. It is signed and dated in graphite to the lower left corner. Illegible title inscribed to the verso. Gallery label attached to verso. This photograph is matted and presented in a wood frame under plexiglass.

Donald Lewis Werner was an American photographer, painter, and graphic designer born in Fresno, California in 1929. He studied at Fresno State College with Adolf and Ella Odorfer and Jane Gale. He was in Who’s Who in American Art and exhibited work at Gallery 1984, the Fresno Art Museum, the National Arts Club, and the American Museum of Natural History. His works can be found in various collections including the Smithsonian Institute and the Fresno Art Museum.

Condition

- to fair; twelve inch scratch to the lower right side of plexiglass; other minor scratches and marks to plexiglass; some warping to the image ground; scratches and marks to the frame; plexiglass could benefit from being cleaned; fitted with wire hanging to the verso.
