A watercolor painting on paper of an abstract composition by Donald Lewis Werner (b.1929), created on February 15, 1982. Depicted is an abstract composition rendered in pastel hues of blue, orange, and green. This work explores how the brush and pigment work with the artist’s hand and mind during the process of creation, inspired by Asian watercolor painting. Signed and dated by hand to the lower left corner. Presented behind glass in a silver-tone metal frame.

Donald Lewis Werner is an American photographer, painter, and graphic designer born in Fresno, California in 1929. He studied at Fresno State College with Adolf and Ella Odorfer and Jane Gale. He was in Who’s Who in American Art and exhibited work at Gallery 1984, the Fresno Art Museum, the National Arts Club, and the American Museum of Natural History. His works are in collections at the Smithsonian Institute and the Fresno Art Museum.
