Eric Pape Ink and Gouache Illustration for "Notre Dame of Paris"

An original ink and gouache illustration by well-listed American artist Eric Pape (California/Massachusetts/France; 1870 – 1938), created for the 1928 publication Notre Dame de Paris by Victor Hugo, on page 219. The image appears to be a draft of sorts, as the inner medallion is cut from another drawing on another piece of paper and collaged onto the base drawing. Artist initials are monogrammed to the lower right. This work is mounted under cream mat, behind glass in a black brushed metal frame, equipped to hang. The Eric Pape Estate stamp is inked to the verso.
