An antique Byzantine tempera and gold leaf religious icon on wood panel, depicting the Christ Pantocrator image. This image, probably the most commonly used depiction of Christ, depicts Christ encircled by a golden halo, holding the open New Testament in his left hand and gesturing a sign of blessing with his right. This piece is not framed or equipped for hanging.

Condition

- edges and corners of wood are worn. Minor areas of paint loss throughout image, mainly in gold leaf. Inpainting in face area and in small areas throughout painting.
