A 2011 cast bronze sculpture by listed American artist James N. Muir (born 1945). The piece, titled The Last Horseman, features an allegorical rendering of the last horseman of the Apocalypse, depicted as a Confederate cavalry captain. The figure is shown with saber raised, riding a bucking horse over a surface of broken pieces, including parts of a wagon wheel and rifle. The sculpture is mounted to a rounded wooden base. The work is signed ‘2011, James Nathan Muir’ via an incised mark near the base; it also features an incised title to the wagon wheel.
