A pair of United States 1857 and 1858 Flying Eagle small cents with COA. The Flying Eagle, minted in 1857 and 1858, was America’s first small cent coin before being replaced by the Indian Head cent. Observe: eagle in flight (designer- James B. Longacre after Christian Gobrecht, based on drawing by Titian Peale); Reverse: wreath with denomination listed in the center (designer- James B. Longacre). The coins are presented by the Postal Commemorative Society in a protective sleeve with a descriptive introduction to the coin. Composition 88% copper 12% nickel. Diameter approximately 19 mm, weight approximately 4.67 grams.
