A signed 1978 limited edition offset lithograph after the original 1972 oil painting by well-listed nostalgic maritime artist John Stobart (Massachusetts; born 1929), titled Decks Awash. The image depicts a view from the decks of massive wooden schooner as it rocks violently on a turbulent sea, waves crashing over the sides of the ship as the crew works to ensure the vessel remains upright. In the distance, another ship is seen on the horizon, likely experiencing a similar situation. Artist’s signature is printed in plate to the lower right, and hand-signed in pencil just below in the margin, where the print is numbered 365 in an edition of 850. This print is mounted under navy blue and white double mat, under glass in a beveled wood frame with a distressed gilt finish, equipped to hang.
