Late 19th or Early 20th Century Japanese Gofun Samurai Warrior

A late 19 or early 20th century Japanese Gofun Samurai warrior figure in full regalia, posed in a seated position. The warrior’s face created from oyster powder is exquisitely hand painted with inserted glass eyes, he wears an elaborate gold lame robe with gold metal armor. The figure is seated on box created to look like a pair of stacked books.

Condition

The gofun figure is missing several elements and the purple fabric on his trousers is missing at the pant legs. Also, there are minor scuffs at his chin. The book box on which he sits is in good condition with only the hinge being loose.
