A handwoven floral kilim. This geometric wool area rug is rendered in a palette of ivory, red, shades of pink, deep navy blue, and periwinkle. It features a Romanian-style allover pattern of tightly latticed roses on an ivory field. Framing the field are compound borders separated by crenellated divider strips. The primary border contains vertically aligned roses over navy, flanked on either side by star/eye patterned guard borders. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at either end with under-weaving skirts and ivory cotton warp fringe. It is unmarked.
