Circa 1940s Beryl Williams Oil on Board Philippines Landscapes

Item Details

A pair of mid-century oil paintings on board by Beryl Williams. One depicts a curving sandy beach, with rows of arching pall trees rising against the clouding sky, and the other depicts a series of natural fiber huts, rising on wooden posts with the beach visible through the trees on the left. Both are believed to depict the beaches of the Phillippines and are signed ‘Beryl’ in a lower corner and presented in carved wooden frames, wired for hanging. These are accompanied by a copy of Hester O’Neill’s The Picture Story of The Phillippines with illustrations by Ursula Koering, that was published in New York by The Junior Literary Guild, copyright 1948.
