"Aquaduct" Original Painting by Edgar Yaeger (1904-1997)

An oil painting on stretched canvas titled Aquaduct by well-listed American artist Edgar Yeager (1904-1997), signed and dated 1932. The painting depicts in a colorful palette a tropical landscape with a large palm tree framing the composition on the left, an aquaduct with it’s reflection in the water below and a woman carrying a bundle on her head in the center. The painting is signed and dated in the lower right, framed in a wide gray wooden frame with the gallery tag affixed to the verso.
Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Edgar Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso, and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
