Antique Ford Carriage Lantern
Item Details
A circa early 20th century antique carriage lantern, in metal with a black finish and a brass cap to the top. It has a square bevelled glass pane to the door and a circular bevelled glass pane to one side, both colorless. There is a bracket to one side for mounting. The original light source, presumably a kerosene burner, is not included. Unmarked, from a Ford Model T per the consignor. Early cars such as the Model T did not have electric lighting systems prior to the 1920s, relying on acetylene and kerosene for the headlights and side/tail lights respectively.
