A graphite drawing on paper by listed artist Don Werner (American, 1929 – 2010) of a figurative scene. The work depicts two figures in a stylized landscape. One figure is holding a chicken while the standing figure balances a vessel on their head. Signed and dated ‘’49-’50’ to the bottom left corner. Presented mounted on a white mat under glass in a wooden frame.

Donald Lewis Werner was an American photographer, painter, and graphic designer born in Fresno, California in 1929. He studied at Fresno State College with Adolf and Ella Odorfer and Jane Gale. He was in Who’s Who in American Art and exhibited work at Gallery 1984, the Fresno Art Museum, the National Arts Club, and the American Museum of Natural History. His works can be found in various collections including the Smithsonian Institute and the Fresno Art Museum.
