An original contemporary oil painting on canvas by an artist named T. Tomas. The painting depicts a stunning pastoral landscape that glows with hazy Luminist yellow light. Two cows drink from a placid stream in a wide landscape with layers of rolling hills densely coated in bushy foliage. A stone citadel can be seen rising prominently from the largest hill in the distance. The painting is signed in gray to the lower right. It has been painted over a thinly applied layer of plaster to give the paint a craquelure finish that appears to make the piece antique, though the canvas’s age reveals it was created within the last 20 years. The painting is presented in a massive wooden frame with cast surface embellishments, seamless corners, bronze tone finish, and a hanging wire.
Condition
- craquelure across painting’s surface. A large rip to upper right has been patched and inpainted.
