German WWII M38 Gas Mask, Filter and Travel Canister

A German M38 gas mask. The M38 was a model of gas mask used by the German Armed Forces during the Second World War in the case of a chemical attack. This piece features orange tinted lenses which allow for sight in low light level conditions, the filter mask which is attached to the front of the mask just below the mouth as well as the original travel canister which opens with a quick release switch; allowing for ease of access and equipping in the case of an emergency. The canister is marked ‘263’ on the side lip just below the lid.

- cosmoline present on the filter; light film residue present on the mask; scuffing to the surface of the mask; light wear to the leather.
