Item Details
An engraving on paper after a painting by Thomas Hicks (1875-1963) titled Authors of the United States. Depicted are forty-four American author and novelist including Catharine Sedgwick, Edgar Allan Poe, and William Hickling Prescott. The figures are rendered in a neo-classical style composition with Greco-roman columns in the background and three statues above. Below the print image is text stating the piece was engraved by A.H. Ritchie. The title has been placed along the bottom. Presented behind glass in a wooden frame with gilt sight edge.

- to fair; foxing is present throughout the composition; dents and scratches are present to the frame.
