A two volume series titled The World in The Air: The Story of Flying in Pictures by American author and filmmaker Francis Trevelyan Miller (1877-1959), published by G.P. Putnam’s Sons, New York, 1930. The series is first historic collection of official prints and photographs from government archives and private collections recording man’s quest to conquer the air. Written with the help of associate Aeronautic Historian Joseph Olin Howe and with collaboration by Frederick Barber of Historical Foundations. The work features over 1,200 illustrations. The pages are punctuated by blue-toned handmade paper with gold-toned accents. Presented without dust jackets or slip covers.

Condition

- staining and water damage present to the exterior of the bindings; top and bottom edges of the cover are worn and ripped throughout; pages show discoloration around the edges; some foxing throughout; corners are bent and damaged; blue stains from the handmade paper present on the front cover of both; volume I binding is loose and tearing at the top.
