A pair of offset lithographs after lithographs titled Sculari and Tophana by John Frederick Lewis (English 1804 – 1876). The black and white prints feature waterfront views of Istanbul, Turkey. Sculari depicts a crowded wharf lined with buildings and a large mosque. The title appears in the print to the lower left and it is signed ‘J.F.L.’ in the plate to the lower right. Tophana shows several boats along a wharf crowded with people and buildings in the background. The title is printed to the lower right. Both prints are mounted under glass with white mats in metal frames.
Condition
- to fair, condition varies; some age discoloration to prints and mats; scratches and abrasions to frame; small tear to backing paper of one print.
