Antique Dutch 833 Silver Stork Ribbon Threader
Item Details
A pair of Dutch silver ribbon threaders. Designed as a stork standing on a turtle, this piece offers a bird with ruby colored eyes and when opened reveals a small baby inside. The impressed dagger mark on the outside of one circular handle indicates Dutch manufacturer and a purity of at least 0.833 fineness. This type of mark was in use from the early 19th century through 1953. Another mark on the other handle also has a dagger shape, and what appears to be two characters, the second being an O. The total approximate weight, inclusive of all non-metal materials is 1.400 ozt.
