An artist’s proof color etching on paper titled The general by American artist Misch Kohn (1916-2002), dated 1958. The piece depicts an abstracted portrait of a stoic man with a mustache. The man is wearing a stripped uniform. Rendered with intermittent delineations and vibrant hues against a white field. Signed, marked artist’s proof, titled and dated in graphite to the lower margin of the composition. The work is presented behind glass, beneath a white mat, housed in a wooden frame with a gilt border.
Condition
- smudges to glass; minor wrinkles and stains to mat; minor toning and discoloration to paper along the edges of mat; dents, scratches and wear to frame; joints of frame slightly detached.
