A Michael Gustavson Raku fired clay sculpture from Torso series. Michael Gustavson primarily works in sculpture, favoring Raku fired organically shaped forms with metallic glazes. He achieved a Master of Fine Arts degree from San Jose State University in 1978 and his work has been purchased by major companies such as IBM, Kaiser Permanente, Seagate and Eastman Kodak. This piece has twisted shaped form with an all over pale pink glaze with purple, green, orange, cobalt blue, and rust colored shapes. The opening of the piece has a metal lip. It is signed to the base ‘Gustavson 1988’.
