Collection of Transferware Dishes
Item Details
A collection of vintage transferware print ceramic plates. The collection includes five vintage plates, all with cranberry-colored transfer patterns depicting a variety of scenes, some with lavish floral borders. They are made of glazed earthenware. Two square shaped plates depict historic castles. One is marked ‘Norris Castle’ and the other, ‘Haddon Hall’, both by Johnson Bros. A round plate in the pattern Woodland depicts a quaint cottage, and is marked ‘Wood & Sons Burslem England’. A round plate depicting a farmer in his fields, with a lavish floral border, is marked Villeroy & Boch Mettlach – Made in Germany Saar’, and is in the pattern Rusticana. A Johnson Bros plate depicts a landscape scene near a lake, with a castle in the distance.
