A limited edition woodcut on paper titled Enemy by American artist Robert Conover (1920-1998), created in 1967. This Abstract Expressionist work features large diagonal slashes in black and red. The print is dated and signed in graphite to the lower right, numbered 2 out of an edition of 25 to the lower center, and titled to the lower left. It is presented under glass with off-white matting and a silver-tone wood frame.
Robert Conover was an Abstract Expressionist who received training at various institutions under Will Barnet, Morris Kantor, Max Beckmann and Louis Schanker. He is known for his paintings and prints that exhibit slashes of color and a simple vivid palette. His work has been exhibited and collected by numerous art institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, among others.
