Thompson Oil Painting on Canvas of an Unknown Woman
Item Details
An oil painting on canvas by Thompson. This quarter length portrait of an unknown young woman, is reminiscent of 1830s portraiture, with elements of earlier styles, however appears to be a 20th century work. Her lace line dark green velvet dress features wide mutton sleeves, and she holds a small red book in one hand, with a red and gold wrap draped over her arm. It is signed ‘Thompson’ in the bottom left corner, however no clear artist attribution could be made. This work is presented in an ornate foliate silver tone wooden frame, wired for hanging.

- craquelure to the glaze; dent to the canvas; wear and stains to the bottom left corner.
