Vintage East Asian Porcelain and Enameled Plates
Item Details
A selection of five Chinese and Japanese porcelain and enameled plates. Included is a Chinese plate decorated in peach with rich enamels depicting the Ashtamangala or ‘Eight Auspicious Symbols’ of Buddhism, marked to the underside with a Tongzhi reign mark, however, the plate was likely made in the mid-20th century. Also included is a Japanese Blue Willow ceramic plate marked ‘Made in Japan’; a Chinese hexagonal plate decorated with a young boy in vermilion, unmarked; a small Chinese ceramic dish clad in brass-tone metal featuring swimming fish, marked with a Tongzhi reign mark, however, the piece was also made in the 20th century; and a ceramic dish featuring multi-colored cherry blossoms against a bright yellow field, unmarked.
Condition
- light stains to a few; significant crazing to one; sticker residue to underside of largest; wear to undersides.
