An original acrylic painting on canvas by reputed Cincinnati-based artist Gayle Gillette Hummel. The painting depicts a very handsome golden retriever pup wearing a red collar, painted quite literally with metallic, golden pigmented swatches of paint against a periwinkle blue backdrop. The buttery, glossy paint has been applied with heavy impasto directly to the canvas with a palette knife, adding a sculptural, tactile element to the piece. Artist signature is signed in paint to the lower right. The painting is unframed, awaiting presentation of choice. A Gayle Hummel label is attached to the verso.
Gayle Hummel is a native of Terrace Park in Cincinnati, Ohio who studied fine art at both Miami University and The University of Cincinnati. Her work can be found in many galleries and private collections worldwide. Her work was also chosen by the late Princess Diana to be hung in a Children’s hospital in England.
