An early 19th century oil painting on canvas in the style of Francesco Guardi (Italian, 1712-1793). The capricci landscape painting depicts a view of Venice and townspeople. Attached to the verso is an unsubstantiated note reading, ‘Capricci di F. Guardi.’ The work is displayed in a silver giltwood frame.

Condition

- abrasions and cracking to the frame; canvas appears to be relined; stretcher marks presents; severe mildew and craquelure throughout the canvas.
