A hand-knotted Persian area rug. This large wool rug is woven in a palette of madder red, slate blue, pink, and camel. It features a semi-curvilinear allover herati pattern on a red field. Framing the field are compound, unresolved borders, including a herati-patterned major border and meandering carnation borders. Selvedges are overcast in red, the rug finishing at either end with short ivory warp cotton fringe. The rug is unmarked.
