A signed offset lithograph with an artist’s proof remarque titled Nantucket by Paul McGehee (1960 – Present). The artwork depicts the white steamboat Nantucket passing the Brant Point lighthouse along the coast of Nantucket, MA in the summer of 1908. The artist’s signature and date 1981 are printed at the lower right corner of the image. Below the print to the left side is an individually drawn image (remarque) of a two-masted sailing vessel signed 4/9 P.M. at the lower right corner. At the right corner below the print the piece is signed in pencil and marked A/P. The artwork is presented with blue-black and light blue mats in a dark wooden frame. Wired for hanging.
Paul McGehee is an original charter member of the American Society Of Marine Artists, a member of the prestigious Salmagundi Club in New York, and a member of Ducks Unlimited, to which he regularly contributes his work, aiding their waterfowl conservation efforts. His works have been held in the collections of three presidents, as well as those of several notable government and private institutions.
