Gouache on Paper After a Medieval Relief
Item Details
A gouache painting on paper by an anonymous artist. This is likely after a brass rubbing of a Medieval plaque. It depicts a lion and king seated before a woodland tent on the left, as two male tree spirits or sylvans kidnap a young woman in the center chased by an armed knight leaving a castle on the right. No discernible signature could be found. This work is presented with a textured gold tone mat, under glass in a gold tone wooden frame that is wired for hanging.
Condition
- glass could be cleaned more thoroughly; minor scratches to frame finish.
