A hand-knotted Persian Bijar area rug. This wool rug features a lively design in a palette of camel, coral, azure, and black. It begins with a semi-curvilinear floral medallion with pendants. The medallion rests on a striated camel-and cream-colored field that features a tight diamond lattice pattern with tiny pink flowers. Cornering the field are spandrels in coral and azure, populated with small flowers. The field is framed by four borders, including the primary border, which features a bold meandering floral pattern over black. Selvedges are overcast in camel, the color of the outer guard border. The rug finishes at either end with short ivory wool warp fringe. It is unmarked.
