A mid-century Japanese shin-hanga woodblock on paper by Uchida Art Co. The circa 1950s work depicts a morning glory in contrasting shades of red, black, green and cream. The print is signed in plate to the lower right with Japanese calligraphy and a printer’s seal. The piece is matted in cream and presented under glass in a wooden bamboo motif frame fitted with a hanging wire to the verso. The frame verso is marked with a label for ‘Uchida Wood Block Printer’ of Kyoto, Japan.
Condition
- backing paper is ripped throughout; gallery label to frame verso; slight toning to paper and mat with age.
