A vintage 1972 color lithograph titled Ladybug by well-listed and beloved Cincinnati-based Modernist wildlife artist and conservationist Charley Harper (1922-2007). He was best known for his highly stylized wildlife prints, posters and book illustrations. In a style he called “minimal realism”, Charley Harper captures the essence of his subjects with the fewest possible visual elements. This print, released in 1972 by Frame House Gallery, depicts the ladybug, an iconic insect of Charley Harper’s oeuvre. Artist signature is printed in plate to the lower left. This print is mounted behind layers of coordinating matting, under glass in a silver tone brushed metal frame, equipped to hang.
Condition
- discoloration and fading to print and matting. Frame is scratched throughout.
