A hand-knotted carved wool area rug. This rug features a neoclassical design in a palette of camel, taupe, and black. Its field consists of a matrix of fifteen small panels, each containing a star medallion over camel and taupe diamonds. These are framed in black with floral and foliate dividers. The matrix is framed by scrolling acanthus over black. Edges are overcast on all sides. The rug is unmarked.
