James Yoko Original Mixed Media Painting on Canvas

An original 1990 oil painting on canvas with applied magazine clippings by well-listed Ohio artist James Yoko (1916-2004). The painting features a vivid red field overlaid with ripped pieces of magazines bearing a variety of black and white letters. The painting is signed and dated to the verso and is presented in a wooden slat-style frame with white finish. Yoko was born in Youngstown, Ohio and was awarded a scholarship to the Dayton Art Institute where he earned a BA in Fine Arts. He continued his education by taking post-graduate courses with John King. His work has been shown in New York, Pennsylvania, Miami Valley Cooperative Gallery, Rutledge Gallery, and Antioch College.
