Finely Hand-Knotted Persian Circular Area Rug
Item Details
A circular Persian area rug attributed to Nain weavers. This wool and silk rug is finely hand-knotted in a palette of ivory, dusty pink, cerulean, aqua, and midnight blue. It features a floral vase design beginning with a multilobed star medallion seeded with a starburst and completed with eight minor and four major pendants, which extend into the ivory field. The field is populated with crisp, swirling vines, shah abbasi palmettes, foliage, and a variety of blossoms. Compound borders offer variations in floral composition, the major border grounded in pink. The rug finishes with long, ivory silk fringe. It is untagged.
