A pair of soapstone figurines. This pair of carved soapstone figurines features a figurine in the shape of a frog. Also incljuded is a figurine carved in the shape of a lion that is labeled ‘Made in Kenya’ to the underside.

The African art pieces in this sale were acquired by the previous owner while living in rural Kenya in the 1960s and 1970s. The collector admired the art of Wakamba artisans and loved supporting their work. His admiration eventually spread to the work of artisans from throughout the continent.
