A handwoven Karabagh wool area rug. The rug features a pattern of floral medallions, eight-pointed stars, and hooked elements in a palette of red, yellow, black, and cream on an indigo blue field. It has a large scale compound border, with a two-petal calyx form and a crab form in the field colors on steel blue and carnelian red fields, respectively. The rug is bound by a stylized leaf and calyx border on pale blue, with overcast edges and a cotton warp fringe to either end. Unlabeled.
