A set of two hand-colored etchings on paper by listed French artist Boris O’Klein (1887-1983); the images originate from his Dirty Dogs of Paris cartoon series. Featured are Chacun Son Tour! (Wait Your Turn!) and Nécessité Fait Loi (Necessity Made Law), each depicting anthropomorphic dogs waiting in line to relieve themselves. The prints are signed in graphite to the lower right and titled to the lower left. Chacun Son Tour! includes an in plate notation to the top left that reads ‘Copyright by O’Klein, Chamarande (S. & O.)’. The works are presented under glass in slim black wooden frames with hanging wires to the verso.
Condition
- to fair; some toning and foxing to prints with age; prints are slightly rippled inside frames; surface scratches and scuffs to frames.
