An oil painting on board of an abstract composition by artist Jack Johnson. This painting depicts a layering of opaque brush strokes in a palette of gray, pale green, cream, pale blue and red tones, which form a crowded nest of woven color. To the lower right corner of the composition is an artist signature and date (1953). The painting is presented in a stained wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.

- to fair; surface of painting has several blemishes (faded streaks); lower right corner of painting has been chipped; scratches on frame.
