Raku Fired Sculptural Vessel by Melinda Ishida-Forster

Item Details

A large hand fired pottery Raku vessel by artist, Melinda Ishida-Forster. The large vase is made using a Western Raku style of firing where the item is removed from the kiln at the peak of heating. The vessel is then subjected to smoking and placed in a container of combustible materials. The work depicts a horse and its shadow wrapped around the exterior of the vessel with a rough unfinished rim. The piece is signed ‘MIF’ to the underside.
