Allee Whittenberger Gerard Original Oil on Board Still Life

An original mid-20th century oil painting on canvas board by well-listed American painter Allee Whittenberger Gerard (Indiana, 1895 – 1993). The painting depicts a vivid bouquet of mustard yellow chrysanthemums arranged carefully within a shallow glossy blue pot. The bouquet sits in front of a nondescript brown background, making their blossoms pop dramatically. The painting is signed in red to the lower right. It is presented in a wooden frame with cast Art Nouveau surface embellishments, gilt finish, and a hanging wire. Gerard specialized in painting landscapes inspired by the Tippecanoe River. She was a member of plethora art clubs and associations, and exhibited work at the National Gallery of the Smithsonian Institute.
Condition
- light scratching and chipping across painting’s surface. Light wear to frame.
