A glowing modern landscape oil painting on canvas titled View of Paris by revered Genre artist Guy Cambier (France, 1923-2008). Two figures are depicted standing in front of tall white walls with a cluster of trees seen stretching slightly above. The sky is painted in hues of yellow, green, orange, and blue. Signed by the artist in the lower left corner. The piece is matted and set in a wood frame.
Cambier was a self-taught artist who sought to paint in the manner of the masters Watteau and Corot, albeit through a modern lens. Cambier exhibited in the 1940s in Belgium, after in France at the Cote d’Azur as well as in the United States and in Paris at the Salon des Peintres Temoins de leur Temps. He relocated to Grasse, in Southern France in the 1950s, spending the remainder of his life and career there.
